Biserujka cave

Nasconde l'ingresso alla grotta di Biserujka The small house you can see on the first picture hide the entrance of the cave.
The fact there is a cave near small village of Rudine above the Slivanjska cove has been known for over a 100 years. It' entrance used to be a simple hole in the ground. Since then it has been a source of immmagination thanks to its beauty . According to a leggend smugglers hide a pearl treasure in the cave and that's why it's called Biserujka (biser in Croatian means a pearl) The firt adventureous explorers started gradual widing of its narrow passages to allow visitors to move through it much easily. The instalation of eletric light brought significant increase of interest in the Biserujka cave, because visitors could easily admire its rich galleries filled with numerous stalactites, stalagntites and calcine pillars. The cave is not big, its lenght is about 110 m, but it's worth visiting it.
The temperature in the cave is costant approx. 10-13°C all year around. The footpaths leading to a cave are well-mainteined and safe for all visitors including children and eldery. The cave is one of the many cultural and natural attractions of the island of Krk. It is located on the northwest part of the island therefore it is convenient for guests of island of krk and the Crikvenica riviera. Inside you can make a photos without flash . I founded interesting a difference of temperature and dampness on the surface and in the cave. Outside the air is dry and the land is arid and in the cave the humidity is so high and the drops of water are falling from the ceiling.
The cost of enterance is 15 kuna and if you want to you can by some drink or book about island of Krk. It's worth to see it.
